Earth distance calculator

Written in 2008 and rediscovered years later, this page calculates the geodesic between any two points. View the rewritten code or the original code from 2008. It uses an accurate ellipsoidal model of the Earth provided by Vincenty’s formula and WGS84 . It is accurate to within 0.6 mm. WGS84 is a theoretical ellipsoidal model that does not account for altitude, but it is significantly more accurate than spherical models.
